The album Alone in the Universe was released in November 2015, and the band undertook the Alone in the Universe Tour to promote the record with a similar band from the Hyde Park Concert. The sound is perfectly fine in a basic Stereo mix via Dolby TrueHD and the video quality generally looks superb. You can also hear the music in standard resolution via Tidal which sounds a bit more crisp and modern than the live CD and the Blu-ray, by the way. I only have a couple little nits to pick. The first involves the CD which oddly fades out each track between songs, instead of letting the full concert audience ambiance flow as it mostly does on the concert video. Its an odd production decision, probably designed for the digital download versions which people sometimes will buy as individual tracks. It is not a big deal but it does start to get annoying if you are listening to the CD in a start to finish manner. More significantly, perhaps, is the lack of a surround sound track. However… I quickly got over it because the Stereo mix is pretty great on its own, with fairly remarkable 3D presence — the music really pops out of the speakers, delivering a nice sense of soundstage.

The success of the single in the US boosted them to the forefront of the music industry, becoming regular bookings for arena and stadium concerts, as well as becoming the most featured band in history on The Midnight Special TV show. The concerts on this tour were their largest they had ever performed, with 62,000 seeing them at Cleveland Stadium in just one night! However, it was in 1986 when the band officially disbanded, after ELO were made to make another album due to contractual agreements. The group is now called The Orchestra. This consisted of Jeff Lynne and his touring band. His is the 2,548th star to be added to the Hollywood Boulevard.

His is the 2,548th star to be added to the Hollywood Boulevard. Jeff was also honoured in his home town the year before when he received a place on the Birmingham Walk of Stars. The most memorable of their performances was at Wembley Stadium in June 2017, and included a giant spaceship, a light show and a two-hour set list of their best songs performed to 60,000 people. The tour continued across the USA and Europe in 2018. Jeff was presented the award by Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh.
But Lynne and Bevan carried on, adding cello and violin players along with synths and guitars. After sorting out issues with miking up the stringed instruments so that they could be heard over the guitars, ELO soon became a force on stage as well and by 1978 with their big budget stage show, they were huge. Ultimately there is over three hours of concert footage from 1973 to 1979. To be fair, ELO was never the most visually stimulating band, and front man Jeff Lynne was never the most charismatic, but the musicianship on display is quite impressive.
